I really have no expertise in the field of etymology but like any good Albanian I will venture into the field nonetheless.
Rrumpalle is a noun. It is composed of Rrum and Palle, meaning Rome and Sword. In other words the thesis of Arnaut’sWord blog is that Rrumpalle is Rome’s Sword. And how could it be otherwise. Our brave men used to pillage and plunder for Rome under its various forms (Rome, Byzantium, Instanbul). Times were good. The vastness of the empire guaranteed a steady income, and our brave men dropped their ploughs (if they ever had them) and picked up the sword.
The problem is that today Rrum is gone, or so say some. The theatre of operations for the Sword of Rome is so small that the Sword is gnawing on itself. So the poor Arnaut is left with two choices: either to drop the sword, or to thrust it into the heart of someone else.
Dropping the sword at this day and age would be suicide, and the thrusting of the sword…well that’s no longer allowed. So the Albanian, it appears, has resolved to end himself in the ignominious and heretical way of falling on his own sword.
How else can one explain the apathy of the Albanian peasants in the light of Gerdec, Farke, Katri i Rades and so on and so forth?

They get properly paid and build new houses on their newly acquired lands? While some others emigrate and have opinions on what the former ones should do?
